Modulation systems with minimum band appropriation
Abstract
Single sideband transmission and narrowband (12.5 kHz) frequency modulation are compared. The operation of a transceiver in narrowband (12.5 kHz) with phase modulation is analyzed and modification of a 25 kHz bandwidth transceiver for conversion to 12.5 KHz bandwidth is detailed. Present technology is not yet sufficient for the system to be used in the communication bands reserved for mobile radio transmission, while data transmission experimental results in the presence of fading show the convenience of using FM with a 12.5 kHz bandwidth.
