On the evaluation of radiopropagation and interference effects on the angular estimate error for the proposed monopulse receivers
Abstract
The performance of monopulse receivers in the presence of interference was analyzed. The errors in the azimuth estimate caused by active or passive interference in secondary radar monopulse receivers of the types ADSEL, CHUBB and DABS are compared in order to choose the receiver to be employed in the secondary radar for the Italian air traffic control project. Both mainlobe and sidelobe interference are considered. Under strong interference, errors are large in all three types of receivers. In the case of weak interference, the DABS receiver shows the best performance, particularly in the case of interference from other stations.
