A method for measuring an equivalent circuit of waveguide-mounted diodes
Abstract
A new method of measurement of the embedding circuit and parasitics of a Schottky-barrier or p-n diode mounted in a waveguide is described. The method is unique in that no instrumentation is required other than an RF signal source, wide-range DC milliammeter, VSWR meter and a sliding short (usually built into the mount) with a linear position scale. Thus the method is applicable at millimeter wavelength and can be performed upon a mixer or detector which is mounted in a system or is at cryogenic temperature. The method is demonstrated by analysis of 140-220 GHz mixer mount.
