Higher-order modes on slot lines
Abstract
The dispersion equation of the slot line is modified to describe higher order modes and obtain the rapid convergence without extraordinary solutions. The presence of simple poles in dispersion equation integrals is discussed, and examples are given of the electric field distribution in the slot and the dispersion plot for several first higher order modes. Satisfactory agreement is found between the theoretical analysis and experimental results, and the integrals are shown to have simple poles under specific conditions which causes the roots in the equation to become complex.
