Calculation of the transmission properties of inhomogeneous fin lines
Abstract
Transmission in inhomogeneous fin lines is investigated theoretically and experimentally for varying slot widths, while taking into account the finite metallization thickness and the effect of the longitudinal slit. For the optimization of fin line tapers, various contour functions are investigated, and the minimal length of the tapered sections is derived for when the input reflection coefficient is a minimum. Calculations and measurements are carried out for X-band and E-band frequencies using an automatic Hewlett-Packard network analyzer, and the design theory is confirmed through experimental results for the optimized tapers.
