Array antenna on a dielectric layer
Abstract
It is noted that no theoretical characteristics of complex linear antennas on a dielectric layer exist. Results are presented of an analysis of radiation characteristics for an antenna array on a dielectric without a screen. A three-layer medium air-dielectric-air is used. Radiation characteristics of the array antenna working on a dielectric layer are calculated. The calculations show that if the dielectric constant of the ground increases, the width of the main lobe also increases. To check the correctness of the analysis, a model array antenna working on a dielectric layer is tested. A number of radiation characteristics of the antenna are also presented. It is shown that if the width of the dielectric layer is small in comparison with the wavelength, the characteristic of the antenna will depend mainly on the shortening coefficient.
