Aperture blockage in reflector antennas
Abstract
Attention is given to the development of some computer programs for generating secondary radiation patterns of reflector antennas, taking into account the aperture blockage effects of feed and struts. This package of programs is instrumental in determining such parameters as effective antenna temperature, gain, efficiency, and side-lobe levels. Consequently, an evaluation of the performance of a reflector antenna system can be carried out on a computer in a time-and-cost-effective manner. Although the computer program package is used to generate data for a particular reflector antenna, it is capable of handling any quadrupod supported primary-feed paraboloidal reflector antennas. The feed strut scattering analysis considered is based on the principle of superposition.
