TDMA satellite system applications in the USSR
Abstract
This paper describes some concepts of 120 channel TDMA-20 system used in the USSR and an advanced TDMA-40 system designed for maximum capacity of 432 duplex channels per transponder which has been developed in the USSR. Frame and subframe structures as well as synchronization and engineering service signals are discussed. The method of initial acquisition, separate synchronization and alignment are outlined. The paper considers an equipment design with separate information and synchronization modems. In this case forward error correction technique used in information modems is possible.
