Implementation of digital communication links on the Anik C satellite system

The design and testing of the high-speed digital links in the Anik C satellite system are described, with particular attention given to the implementation of the earth stations, test results on spacecraft hardware, and field trial results obtained using satellite links via Anik B. To date, the performance tests and the field trial indicate that the system performance will be met. However, important testing remains to be carried out, such as interfacing the satellite network to the terrestrial network, which will take place in phase II of the field trial.
