Transmit power control system in regenerative satellite communications
Abstract
A power control system for the up-link of a digital satellite communications channel operating in the 14 GHz band with on-board regeneration is designed. A typical non-linear high power amplifier is simulated and its operating point is optimized. It is shown that with a cochannel and two adjacent channel interferers the power control system improves the channel performance by a substantial amount. The effects of the linear distortions of practical receiving filter are examined as well, and different alternatives for its group delay equalization are considered.
