Earthquake resistant structural walls analysis of coupled wall specimens
Abstract
A structural model that can predict the response history and failure mechanisms of coupled wall systems under static loads is described. The analytical results are compared with test results for coupled wall specimens tested at the Construction Technology Laboratories. On the basis of this comparison, effects of assumed analytical conditions of overall behavior are discussed. The analytical results are in agreement with the experimental results with respect to overall behavior of the wall systems considered. It was demonstrated that analytical models can simulate important aspects of behavior of constituent members of coupled wall systems.
