Ultra rapid cinematography in the X-ray spectral range for laser-matter interactions experiments
Abstract
The dynamic recording of the phenomena occurring in the plasma created while the target is irradiated is discussed. Analysis in the X-ray spectral region, and in particular initially in the 1 to 10 KeV region is useful for studying the self emission of plasmas or for carrying out radiography with an auxiliary X-ray source. Different detectors were developed enabling the spatiotemporal evolution of these X-ray emissions to be determined with a resolution in the picosecond range. These detectors also enable two dimensional images of the plasma to be visualized with exposure times of less than 300 ps. The successive stages which allowed these objectives to be fulfilled are described. Both the temporal and spatial are important.
