Validation of a complex Patriot guidance simulation
Abstract
The Patriot System hybrid (H1) guidance simulation is presented, and the approach adopted to validate the simulation is discussed together with the results achieved. The simulation has a digital/analog hybrid structure with full six-degree-of-freedom motion capability including statistical models of over 100 error sources. Validation of subsystem model and model internal parameter values was accomplished through H1 and hardware comparisons of model input/output test results, vendor component test statistics, and factory assembly level test statistics. Validation of the closed-loop system model was achieved through extensive statistical comparisons of key H1 system level parameter histories with those recorded during the Patriot flight test program. In addition, statistical hypothesis testing techniques were applied to H1 and flight test miss distance data.
