Nonuniformity of the ionization of a gas-discharge gap by an electron beam
Abstract
The Monte Carlo method is used to calculate the spatial distribution of ionization produced by an electron beam in a gas-discharge chamber with allowance for the electric field. It is shown that the escape of beam electrons from the discharge through the side surfaces of the chamber produces a significant increase in the nonuniformity of ionization compared with the case of plane-parallel geometry.
