Coherent properties of tunable pulsed solid-state lasers with mode selection
Abstract
An experimental study is presented of the temporal coherence of the emission of a tunable pulsed Nd:YAG laser after selection of longitudinal and transverse modes. The efficiency of selection is investigated using self-diffraction by dynamic gratings. It is shown that mode selection leads to single-frequency operation of the laser; this operation is characterized by an increase of the coherence length from 0.2 to 2 m and a 5-8-fold increase in the total coherence with good reproducibility of pulses in terms of intensity at an emission wavelength of 1064 nm.
