A new class of nonlinear surface waves
Abstract
Exact solutions of Maxwell's equations in the form of nonlinear P-type surface waves are obtained at the boundary between two nonlinear uniaxial media that fill the half spaces greater than zero and less than zero, which are characterized by diagonal dielectric-constant tensors depending quadratically on the amplitude of the electric field. It is noted that the determined class of exact solutions of the nonlinear equations is not the only possible one, since the equations allow separate solutions of the solitary wave types as well as periodic solutions.
