Multiphoton processes in free-electron lasers
Abstract
Multiphoton processes in undulators with linear magnetic field polarization are examined. It is shown that by using strong magnetic fields for beams of relatively low energy (5-15 MeV), it is possible to significantly increase the frequencies of the amplified electromagnetic waves without a noticeable reduction in the gain coefficient.
