Thermal boundary layer in a nonlinear medium with bulk absorption of heat
Abstract
A theoretical study is presented of the characteristics of a thermal boundary layer in a nonlinear medium with bulk absorption of heat, whose power depends on temperature. Exact and approximate solutions of the boundary value problem describing this heat-transfer process are presented. It is shown that the structure of a thermal boundary layer with bulk heat-absorption can differ qualitatively from the structure of a classical thermal boundary layer. The characteristics of this structure are determined by the nonlinearity of heat transfer and can be observed in more complex models describing the thermophysical properties of a plasma.
