The role of surface-tension forces during image formation on thin liquid films
Abstract
Infrared photography methods which employ thin liquid films as the light sensitive materials are examined. The possible mechanism of the formation of convective cells and warping of the liquid surface are analyzed, showing the important role of surface tension gradients. A mathematical description of the process is presented together with criteria for optimum selection of the recording layer.
