The characteristics of V-groove lasers for high-power output pulses
Abstract
A new diffusion-type stripe-geometry injection laser reported by Marschall et al. (1979) is considered. The achievable output power for pulsed operation is considered along with the emission characteristics of the V-groove laser in the case of a modulation with 6 Mbit/s, the effect of temperature on the optical properties of the modulated laser, the long-term characteristics of the V-groove laser, and the use of the V-groove laser as an optical transmitter for fiber lightguide measurement technology. The optical output signal of a pulsed laser is shown, taking into account a pulse length of 10 ns with a power output of 400 mW and a pulse length of 500 ps with a power output of 500 mW.
