The effect of Lorentz forces on the motion of a satellite relative to its center of mass
Abstract
An investigation is presented of the motion of a satellite, surrounded by an electrically charged sphere, in the earth's magnetic field. Expressions are obtained for the projections of Lorentz force moments on the main central axes of inertia. Equations in osculating elements were used to examine perturbations caused by the Lorentz forces. The averaging method is used to determine secular perturbations of the rotation parameters when the center of mass does not coincide with the center of the charged sphere and the moments of inertia are equal.
