The propagation of an axisymmetric jet acted upon by buoyant forces
Abstract
The main section of a heated, axisymmetric jet flowing vertically upward is analyzed, with the results given to a boundary layer approximation. Through a change in variables, the excess heat content is automatically conserved. A comparison between the numerical results and a self-similar solution obtained given a Prandtl number equal to 2 demonstrates the validity of the method.
