Production testing microprocessor-based instrumentation
Abstract
The differences between production testing of microprocessor-based process instruments and production testing of conventional instruments using analog or random logic circuits, by manufacturers producing 1000 units per year are examined. Design guidelines which facilitate production testing are summarized. Testing of: components and bare circuit boards before assembly; completed boards; and the fully assembled system are outlined. Choice and availability of test equipment are discussed.
