Wave model: Nonlinear focusing of water waves in the paraxial regime. Comparison between theory and experiment
Abstract
The results of relatively large amplitude focusing experiments are compared with the predictions of both linear and nonlinear theories. These comparisons verify the validity of the nonlinear theory and show some discrepancy between the results of the linear theory and experiments. However, the efficiency of the focusing device as an energy concentrator does not appear to be significantly deteriorated by the nonlinear effects.
