Wave model: Oscillating cylinder in ocean waves
Abstract
A submerged, circular cylinder moving in small perturbations round an equilibrium position is considered and its impact on water waves is studied. An explicit expression for the velocity potential is obtained in terms of a rapidly converging series. The equation of motion is solved when the cylinder is moving object to a linear force, and the case of a flexible cylinder is briefly discussed.
