Fixed lateral flow of a toroid according to the Stokes approximation
Abstract
O'Neill's theory of the asymmetrical flow of a toroid according to the Stokes approximation is applied to an open toroid rotating and moving translationally perpendicular to the axis of symmetry. The values of the coefficient of the measureless force and the measureless moment of force are calculated. Borderline cases in which the toroid becomes infinitely "thin' and in which the toroid is "shut' are considered. For the "thin' toroid, the asymptotically obtained values for the measureless coefficient of force and the moment of force are compared.
