Performance analysis of a DSI-ADPCM system without speech detectors
Abstract
A combination of an instantaneous priority speech interpolation system and a differential encoding technique is considered. The goal of this approach is to achieve a gain of about 4 in terms of ratio between the number of input channels and that of output channels. While the current speech interpolation techniques require a speech detector recognizing the pauses in speech activity in each channel, a solution is proposed, which avoids the use of this device. The operation of the proposed algorithm, the simulation scheme that has been used for evaluating its performance, and some results obtained for different operating conditions and system parameters are described.
