Mixing of final state spin components in the high resolution spectrometer
Abstract
The mixing of scattered proton spin components by precession in the high resolution spectrometer (HRS) dipole magnets is discussed in terms of focal plane polarimeter (FPP) experiments. Explicit expressions are derived for calculation of polarizaton transfer parameters from focal plane polarizations. Also discussed are the effects of out-of-plane scattering at small laboratory angles on FPP measurements as well as analyzing power measurements.
