Report on the suitability of some metallurgical slags as aggregate for concrete
Abstract
Chrome, copper, and platinum slags were evaluated as aggregrates in concrete. Eight of the slags were determined to be suitable for use as aggregates, provided they do not contain unslaked lime. The availability, characteristics, chemical and physical properties, and particle sizes of the slags are given. Mix proportions and physical and mechanical properties of fresh concretes with differing aggregate-cement ratios are presented.
