Critical parameters for detonation propagation and initiation of solid explosives
Abstract
The complicated relations and interdependence of the various critical parameters are demonstrated. In particular, the critical diameter is determined by charge temperature, initial particle size, density, confinement, composition, and shock sensitivity. The critical initiating pressure is also a multivariant function and depends on the same set of variables. Relations between different gap (shock sensitivity) test results and between those of gap and wedge tests are also shown.
