PTC '81; Proceedings of the Pacific Telecommunications Conference, Honolulu, HI, January 12-14, 1981
Abstract
Investigations related to communication networks are discussed, taking into account a survey of electronic message systems, computer controlled radio broadcasting network switching systems, restrictions on the growth of data networks, bandwidth routing in X.25 networks, an overview of the MX command and communications system, data integrity in data communications with dumb terminals, the development of a performance analysis for flow control with window mechanism, and a Petri net approach to compute the terminal reliability. Institutional barriers to users are considered along with international issues and planning, Pacific island telecommunications, the future direction of telecommunications standards, public service and educational uses of telecommunications, the consumers for telecommunications services, and legal issues arising from use of international information networks. Attention is also given to social effects of telecommunications, transmission system quality control, the information economy, and telecommunications hardware systems.
