Axially symmetric Oseen flow past a slender body of revolution
Abstract
This paper deals with the study of Oseen stationary motion of an incompressible viscous fluid past a slender body of revolution. The velocity of the fluid flow at infinity is uniform, and has the direction of the axis of symmetry of the body. The effect of the body is represented by a distribution of singularities (mass sources and momentum sources) along a segment of its axis of symmetry inside the body. The densities of the sources satisfy a system of integral equations whose solution is given in the paper as an asymptotic expansion for small values of the slenderness ratio. The drag experienced by the body is calculated.
