Errors in computing displacement from transient acceleration signals
Abstract
The paper examines some of the problems of computing velocity and displacement from a measured acceleration signal. In particular emphasis is given to dealing with transient accelerations. As an example a typical transient acceleration signal is considered and related to the behaviour of an artificially generated damped sinusoid as being theoretically representative of the response of a simple single degree of freedom system.
