Directional properties of dielectric stripline waveguides
Abstract
Theoretical results are presented on the properties of dielectric stripline waveguides on metallic substrates, which are suitable for use in integrated optical and millimeter-wave devices. It is shown that, in contrast to rectangular dielectric waveguides, the stripline waveguides have a range of frequencies where the directional properties are most pronounced. Beginning with a certain value of frequency, energy concentration and directivity in the stripline waveguide are greater at the first higher mode than at the fundamental mode.
