Choice of filter parameters in local-noise compensators
Abstract
A comparative analysis is presented of the basic methods of designing quasi-optimal filters and of estimating the influence of filter parameters on the noise immunity of local-noise compensators. Particular attention is given to the choice of the minimum number of weighting coefficients in the engineering design of the filters. It is found that, for signals and noise with relatively uniform spectral densities, quasi-optimal filters in local-noise compensation channels should be realized in the time domain on the basis of delay-line nonrecursive filters. When the spectral densities are significantly nonuniform, the synthesis of quasi-optimal filters should be performed in the frequency domain on the basis of narrowband filtering devices.
