Longitudinal waves of the mean field in a cold turbulent plasma
Abstract
The tensor of the effective permittivity of a cold turbulent plasma is found. Using this tensor, it is shown that weakly damped longitudinal waves of the mean electric field may propagate in the plasma. The group velocity of these waves in the reference system, moving with the mean velocity of the flow, is close to the rms velocity of the turbulent plasma motion.
