The dynamics of electrons in crossed fields with allowance for quasistatic space charge
Abstract
Two simple models of twoflux state in the static and dynamic regimes are examined for Mtype crossedfield devices. In the first model (the Jmethod), the density of static charge is determined from a selfconsistent system of equations. In the second model (the qmethod), this density is assumed to be constant. The method of motionintegral variation is used to formulate dynamics equations for amplitudes and phases of the quasicycloidal motion of electrons. Electron trajectories are compared for the two models, and the conditions of application of the second, simpler, model are established. Truncated equations of motion in the traveling wave field are also obtained for this latter model.
