Theoretical analysis of the amplification of stochastic signals in an M-type TWT
Abstract
The amplification of signals with a nearly Gaussian distributed in M-type traveling wave tubes is studied for different widths of the input-signal spectrum and different frequency dependences of the coupling resistance. The decrease (compared to the case of the amplification of monochromatic oscillations) of the output power of broadband amplifiers in the case of stochastic oscillations is determined. The relationship between the amplification efficiency and the shape of the amplitude curve in the case of regular oscillations is investigated. The effect of the statistical properties of the input stochastic signal on the amplification efficiency is examined, and the amplification characteristics of M-type devices are compared with those of O-type devices.
