Pumping a plasma laser modulated by an electron beam
Abstract
An analysis is made of the possibility of using electron beams with periodically changing beam density to develop plasma lasers emitting a modulated beam of light. The time-domain characteristics are examined for the relaxation of active medium subjected to bombardment by a modulated beam of electrons, and both electrostatic and electrodynamic methods of electron bunching are evaluated. Modern microwave device technology is deemed advanced enough for this application.
