A method for the statistical evaluation of signal detection characteristics in pulse detection and ranging systems
Abstract
It is noted that the design of detection and ranging systems is complicated by the need to select correct threshold ratios (threshold/noise, signal/noise) given the large number of destabilizing factors. A statistical method for evaluating the characteristics of pulse signal detection is presented that takes into account destabilizing factors of internal and external origin given a normal amount of noise. Threshold ratios are calculated for a specific case.
