An investigation of the possibilities for using a holographic method to process wideband signals at higher frequencies
Abstract
Attention is given to the two methods used both in the formation of radiation patterns of phased arrays and in the real-time processing of signals at the output of the arrays. It is noted that since the two methods complement each other a combination would be desirable. Such a combination would make possible a method of processing the signals of multibeam phased arrays through the coherent conversion of the signals into those of a higher frequency (of the microwave region) and the subsequent processing of the spectrum of the space-time frequencies. It is pointed out that a system of this type for processing signals at the output of a phased antenna array can be regarded as a holographic system; here, the hologram is formed on the matrix of the parametric converters by the signal wave and the excitation reference wave.
