Simple cryogenic temperature regulator: the Zener diode
Abstract
This note describes a simple and effective method of stabilizing the temperature of a FET or other small device over the range 77°K to room temperature. By driving a Zener diode from a constant voltage source, a self-heating effect is produced which increases sharply when the temperature falls below a preset value.
