Equilibrium figures of liquid bodies located at libration points
Abstract
The paper deals with the motion of a liquid body in the Newtonian attraction field of two bodies rotating about the common center of mass in Keplerian circular orbits. Particular solutions are obtained under the assumption that the liquid body dimensions are small in relation to the distance between the bodies. The solutions correspond to certain positions of the center of mass of the body at libration points of the restricted circular three-body problem, a fixed position of the principal central axes of inertia in the orbital coordinate system, and ellipsoidal equilibrium figures.
