A semiempirical hypothesis in the theory of turbulent boundary layers
Abstract
A semiempirical formula is presented for eddy viscosity outside the viscous sublayer of a turbulent boundary layer. The approach used is based on dimensionality theory with consideration of characteristic scales for each boundary layer region as well as the continuity of the eddy viscosity coefficient. Theoretical results on velocity profile and shear stress are compared with experimental data.
