Soliton crossing in incommensurate two-dimensional solids
Abstract
The crossing energy in a honeycomb lattice of solitons in the system of adsorbed atoms is found to be very small. This is a possible explanation for the experimental results that the commensurate-incommensurate transition is continuous and the incommensurate phase is hexagonal.
