Estimate of photonic transition rates from proton-antiproton atoms to diquoniums

A study of the radiative decays of (pp) atoms into diquonium-states is carried out by considering the different mechanisms for the annihilation of a quark-antiquark pair accompanied by the emission of an energetic photon. The calculated rates turn out to be smaller than the present experimental values and if the latter are confirmed, the observed bumps should be more easily explainable as quasinuclear bound states rather than diquonium signals.
