An investigation of the influence of momentum defects in the free stream, on the flow over lifting surfaces
Abstract
An effort was made to solve the Navier-Stokes equations numerically for appropriate boundary conditions. Using a computational method developed during the course of the research, the effects of a confluent wake on boundary layer formation and separation are demonstrated. This work leads to the solution of the multi-element foil problem. A discussion of some methods of solution that were tried out and the method used to solve the problem are included.
