The LangevinEquation Approach to Dynamics of Dense Fluids
Abstract
The stochasticdifferentialequation approach to dynamical problems of dense fluids is presented. The stochastic BoltzmannEnskog equation is derived from the Liouville equation of a classical hard sphere system. By the method of the ChapmanEnskog expansion, it is shown that the equation reduces near the local equilibrium to the equations of fluctuations in fluids of Landau and Lifshitz.
Discussions are given on the possibility of using the LandauLifshitz formula as a microscopic expression of transport coefficients.
