Resonant laser excitation in a two-level model: a nonlinear Schrödinger equation?
Abstract
A nonlinear Schroedinger equation for the dynamics of a resonantly driven two-level model including both T1 and T2 processes is presented. This equation is novel in that it can account both for the rate of population flow into an energy level and for the destruction of phase information, i.e., it can account for the system's evolution into a mixed quantum state.
