Large volume TEM/00/ mode operation of Nd:YAG lasers
Abstract
A stable resonator incorporating a suitably adjusted telescope allows operation of a Nd:YAG laser with a large volume TEM(00) mode. The resonator design allows excellent beam quality to be reliably maintained. TEM(00) energy in excess of 350 mJ was obtained from a fixed Q laser. Q-switched energies have been kept at approximately 100 mJ to avoid damage but operation at approximately 200 mJ appears feasible.
